Pulse 2008 exhibits new talent
(09/05/2008)
Clarion Retail has travelled the world to ensure that Pulse 2008 is an inspiring hotbed of more new talent with over 300 new exhibitors, many of whom will be showcasing their products and designs for the first time this year. Zoned into five different sectors, this year’s Pulse will welcome over 700 exhibitors - twice as many as any other London show this summer - and a vast number of new design-led products.
Show director Neil Gaisford comments: “Pulse is truly unique with a stunning environment where buyers and designers can be inspired, make new contacts and do good business. We have worked hard to showcase new products and designs with more new exhibitors than ever before, making Pulse the only place for buyers to spot something different and discover the latest innovative designs on the retail market.”
Organisers can reveal that Pulse is working closely with Echochamber to design and build a unique product feature incorporating the ‘Spot Something Different’ theme. Within this display, Echochamber will create ‘Windows On the World’. Neil Gaisford explains “Our feature was created by Echochamber, a team of retail experts who travel the globe in search of new and innovative stores. They have constructed a gallery space that takes you on a whirlwind tour of the worlds most creative and exciting shop windows.”
Endorsed by Liberty, supported by Normann Copenhagen, and with over 115 exhibitors, Launchpad is the place to discover the hottest new designers and their latest products.
Liberty will present the Liberty Award to its best newcomer. Selected by Michelle Alger, Furniture & Lighting Buyer, Liberty, the award will be announced on the first day of the show. Michelle Alger comments: “As a buyer discovering great new design is an exciting and essential part of my job - a setting like Launchpad is the ideal source of inspiration and new talent”.
Normann Copenhagen is also presenting an award to the best new product in Launchpad. The winning exhibitor will receive a listing of their product in the Normann Copenhagen store which is a fantastic opportunity for any up-and-coming designer.
Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design will be showcasing new products from design graduates, as well as prototype products from current students so buyers can meet the stars of the future. Tim Hoar, Business Development Manager, Central Saint Martins explains: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Clarion Retail and Pulse to showcase work from both established designers and emerging new talent from Central Saint Martins. New work on show will include ceramics, tableware, glass, jewellery, lighting and gifts.”
Pulse will provide the setting for a series of Retail Surgeries open to all visitors and exhibitors at the show, offering free advice to assist and develop new and existing businesses. These will be one-on-one appointments with industry experts offering advice on subjects such as Internet Retailing, Visual Merchandising, Trends and PR. Pre-booking available online.
Pulse will host a series of seminars with key speakers covering essential aspects of retail including Internet Retailing, Fairtrade and Trends. The Seminar Theatre will be situated near the Indigo lounge.
To highlight the very best in British design, which makes up 85% of the show, Pulse will feature a selection of the most exciting, up-and-coming designers in the UK including Mode Product Design, Thelermont Hupton, Ficklestix and Noodle.
Pulse will feature a selective group of the best international designers and brands which make up 15% of the show including Plus D, Bontemps, Laurige, Place de Lices and major American brands such as Timmy Woods (who designed the Eiffel Tower Handbag as seen on the Sex & The City film), Michelle Monroe (top exclusive brand in the US and popular with celebrities), Onesole, Diaphani Collections and Early Jewellery.
