For something different to give for Fathers' Day, Feed The Children (UK) has some novel, worthwhile presents to give Dad on his special day. Two of the most unusual are a goat or a piglet and what’s more, Dad doesn’t even have to look after them. The gift is used to give the animals to families and communities in desperate need so they can improve their lives. Surprise Dad with his own goat or piglet that he can share, safe in the knowledge that both he and you are buying something really useful for less fortunate people.

A goat costs just £40. Feed The Children gives one male and ten female goats to a community group so that the goats can breed, providing meat, milk and manure for the community and kids to sell. The cost of all livestock includes veterinary certificates, transport permits and training in animal husbandry.

Alternatively if you buy a piglet (£25), it provides livestock to families in poverty, restoring the dignity of working for a living. Feed The Children provides training and ongoing support and a community group proves commitment by building adequate pens for the animals.

Says Feed The Children’s CEO, Brian Main, who is himself a father, “I think these alternative gifts are wonderful presents that can give so much joy to fathers in other countries less well off than ours. I have had the pleasure, on a visit to Uganda last year, of buying a herd of goats so I personally know that the goats go to where they are needed and also it was so joyful to see what a difference people’s gifts made.”

Pay on line and you will then receive a gift card with an envelope to send to Dad. The front of the card shows a picture of what you have bought and inside there is an explanation of Feed The Children’s work and what your gift will buy.

Feed The Children (UK) is first and foremost a children’s charity but it is also a humanitarian and international relief organisation. The charity works both in the UK and around the world in areas of desperate need, developing sustainable communities, providing food, clothing and other life supporting requirements. Administration costs are very low compared with other charities with 90% of the charity’s donations going towards its work. For more details of Feed The Children’s work visit www.feedthechildren.org.uk.”

Feed The Children (UK) registered in 1994 and over the years the charity has helped millions of children and their families both at home and abroad. The charity relies on gifts from generous companies, individuals and organisations to donate the goods and financial assistance needed in order to support the various humanitarian and relief projects.
