Women prefer home appliances to chocolate for their wedding anniversary
(25/06/2010)
Women are sick of receiving nauseating heart-shaped novelties, tacky teddies and forgettable flowers on their wedding anniversary. Forget flowers and chuck the choccies, a gift for the home is where the heart is.
A survey by Tszuji found that contrary to popular belief, 54 per cent of women would like their husband to buy them something to benefit the home they built together. Luxury and innovative appliances topped the list, including breadmakers and coffee machines.
The study by also found the more unique and unusual the better; traditional gifts, such as flowers and chocolates, are outdated as 34 per cent said they want a more imaginative present. What’s more 24 per cent of women claimed tacky trinkets, such as heart-shaped key-rings, were dreadful. Inappropriate and immature teddy bears, however, were voted the worst item to receive. Even classic jewels lack charm; 78 per cent said they would prefer an inexpensive item rather than break the bank.
“I have been married to my wife for over XXX years and always get stuck on original gift ideas,” says Glendon Lloyd, co-founder of Tszuji. “However, when I was forced to watch Sex and the City and saw how much Carrie loved her walk-in wardrobe I thought what a great anniversary gift.”
A walk-in wardrobe ticks all the boxes. It is a unique gift for the home, it will last forever and does not have to cost as much as a diamond ring. The 30 pocket over-door shoe organiser simply slips over the wardrobe to create a walk-in wardrobe style storage space. It costs just £22.95.
A more innovative gift is Tszuji’s Rakku shoe wheel, for £64.95 it makes the practical fun.
To add the final touch, Tszuji’s Jokari Hanging Handbag organiser securely fits into the wardrobe and costs £14.95.
